Three Simple Steps to Being Happier About Your Health

Focus on what you’re doing, not what you haven’t done.

Seeing your healthy potential often starts with recognizing what you’re already doing. It could be as simple as acknowledging the fact that you walk the dog, every day, rain or shine. It’s easier to build a healthy habit on top of small successes you’ve already achieved.

Set reasonable goals… and be OK with missing them sometimes.

Many of us obsess about weight, or eating healthier, or exercising. And it’s easy to criticize ourselves for not meeting unrealistic goals.

The solution? Change your goals to something specific and achievable that you’re almost certain to get done. That can be as simple as walking to the park 3 blocks from your house and back, or just to the end of the block. Maybe it’s switching from sugar to Splenda. If you can do more, go for it. If not, give yourself credit for reaching the goal.

Find something to celebrate.
